While there is no specific manual on how to become a voice actor, the cast chosen for these iconic Disney characters sets an excellent example of awe-inspiring voice over that dominates the big screen. Even watching the film is a lesson on voice acting, on the power of how the right voice can change the entire trajectory of a film, and satisfy the viewers’ expectations. So therefore Disney made its best casting decision, and ultimately the sweetest nod to the original animation sensation, by bringing Jones’ phenomenal vocals back on board for this digital iteration. There is an element of grandeur to Mufasa in the original that would be hard for any other voice actor to recreate. The moment that Jones’ voice fills the room, there is a deep sense of calm, of “yes, this is right”. It is nostalgic for those who have seen and loved the original, and it is magical and wondrous for those who experience the film for the first time. The phenomenal voice over cast has done a truly impeccable job of bringing these beloved characters back into the hearts and minds of the global audience. Instead, the opposite happened, and while perhaps visually the CGI is a little too real-looking, it is – quite literally – music to one’s ears to hear the actors bringing the characters to such vivid life. And while many expected CGI to be the glue that would hold the masterful film together, it turned out to be something else entirely: the voices of the characters, which provided a depth of emotion and helped to redefine what it means to do character voice over.ĭisney has been having an especially remarkable run with its new releases lately, but even so, people were concerned that this classic would have a hard time matching up to the original. The live-action movie will be directed by Jon Favreau, director of the live-action The Jungle Book. Key's is named Kamari while André's is named Azizi, according to IMDB. Keegan-Michael Key and Eric André also star in the film voicing new characters. Seth Rogan and Billy Eichner take on the voices of friends Pumbaa and Timon. Alfre Woodard will play Simba's mother, Sarabi. James Earl Jones will reprise his role of Mufasa, Simba's father. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as the voice of Simba and Beyoncé as Nala. We also hear Timon and Pumbaa singing a bit of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." The new trailer features a plethora of iconic moments from the original 1994 animated film, including lines from Mufasa's speech to Simba about leadership and the sequence where Simba grows up. To celebrate, Disney dropped a new trailer. The countdown to the live-action The Lion King is on.
